Set amid the coconut groves of Athupollachi, Pollachi, The Thennai is a contemporary tropical farmhome that lets landscape, climate, and rural rhythm shape its architecture. Rather than dominating the site, the house frames the coconut canopy, filters daylight, and draws the plantation into everyday living.

Restrained and tactile, the design uses natural materials, earthy tones, deep overhangs, and shaded verandahs to move gradually between enclosed rooms and the grove beyond. Solid masses offer refuge from sun and rain, while generous openings dissolve the line between inside and outside.

More than a weekend retreat, The Thennai is an immersive landscape dwelling, a home that slows life down and places the coconut grove at its centre, reimagining the timeless South Indian bond between home and land.
